Call for Abstract (Closed)
IIDS Robotics Conference 2025 aims to explore the applications and research agenda of robotics in the fields of hospitality, tourism, and retailing. The conference provides a platform for academics, industry practitioners, and students to present their research, share innovative ideas, and discuss the latest developments in these dynamic sectors.
Abstracts (in English) are invited from all self-financed institutions in Hong Kong and beyond. Final year students’ final year projects/thesis with related topics can also be considered.
We invite abstract submissions that contribute to the conference theme and sub-themes outlined below. Accepted abstracts will be considered for presentation in parallel sessions.

Theme & Sub-themes
The Conference Organisers invite submissions on the following theme and sub-themes (but not limited to):
- Theme: Applications and research agenda of Robotics in Hospitality, Tourism and Retailing
- Sub-themes:
- A critical review of robot research and future research opportunities in retailing, hospitality, and tourism
- The effects of perception of robot appearance and service context on usage intention
- Application of robots in retailing, hospitality, and tourism
- Ethics of robotics applications
- Employees’ perspective and robot design

- Second Round (Extended) Deadline (abstract submission): 15 June 2025
- Second Round Notification of Acceptance: by 30 June 2025
- Full paper submission for Best Paper Award (optional): 31 July 2025
Guidelines for Abstract Submission
The following instructions serve as guidelines for submission. An
abstract will not be considered for presentation if it does not meet
the guidelines below.

Please submit your abstract via the Abstract Submission Form (Closed).

All abstracts should be submitted no later than
15 June 2025. Abstracts cannot be submitted online.

For authors submitting more than one abstract, each abstract must
be submitted separately. One author can only present at most 2
papers.

Before submitting your abstract, please make sure the abstract is
prepared according to the instructions.

The materials in the abstract should be original work, with the
focus of the abstract clearly stated.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the information in the
abstract. Submitted abstracts will be final and NO further editing
should be expected. Abstracts will appear as submitted in the
electronic program of proceedings.

Corresponding author / presenter will receive all correspondence
concerning the submission and is responsible for informing the
other authors of the status of submission.

Receipt of abstracts will be acknowledged through email. All
presenters will be notified of the decision of the Scientific
Committee on or before 31 May 2025.

The presenters of accepted abstracts are required to register. Registration fee is waived.
Abstract Requirements

Abstracts can only be submitted in English. The use of Generative AI is prohibited.

Abstracts should be prepared in the following format:

Title – The maximum title length is 20
words.

Authors - Type the first name followed by the
family name. Omit degrees and titles.
Underline the presenting author. The name of the
institution and country should be included.

Content – Abstracts should be organized under
four headings:

AIMS

METHODS

RESULTS

CONCLUSIONS

Length – the abstract (excluding title, names
and institution, and references) should not exceed 300 words.

Format – Abstracts must be typed in black
using Times New Roman with 12-point font size. Single line
spacing should be used. Only standard abbreviations are
allowed. References are NOT required. Graphic in content is
NOT acceptable.
